Twined Reed Basket with Becky Acosta

Learn to make this decorative basket from rattan reed.  This is a good beginner-level basket project.    You will learn basic spoke construction and a basketry technique called twining to make this basket.   You will also learn how to make simple patterns with colored reed to personalize your basket.   You will learn ways to give your basket shape.  You will finish by learning a technique to finish the rim.  Each basket made will be different and individual to the maker.   Basket sizes will average about 5-7" around and 4-6" tall.  If you took the previous class and would like a little extra help please feel free to join us.

Please be advised that this is a technique class. You may not finish your basket during class. We will schdule a followup to make sure that you finish.

Class time:  4 hours-  Feel free to bring a picnic style snack.

Tools & Materials:   

All necessary materials will be provided by the instructor.   You may wish to bring a towel and/or apron to protect clothing, as we will be working with soaked reed.

Class Cancellation Policy

Sometimes our classes won’t fill their minimum and we will need to cancel. Most likely it could be the day before, and we will contact you as soon as possible. A full refund will be applied if the studio has to cancel a class.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Class fees are non-refundable. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within the 24 hours before the class, you will forfeit your fee. If you alert us 24 hours or more before your scheduled class, we will gladly give you credit for a future class . This credit must be used within 90 days of the cancellation date to prevent loss of the registration fee.
