Twined Reed Basket 8/17

Learn to make this decorative basket from rattan reed.  This is a good beginner-level basket project.    You will learn basic spoke construction and a basketry technique called twining to make this basket.   You will also learn how to make simple patterns with colored reed to personalize your basket.   You will learn ways to give your basket shape.  You will finish by learning a technique to finish the rim.  Each basket made will be different and individual to the maker.   Basket sizes will average about 5-7" around and 4-6" tall.  

Tools & Materials:   

All materials for the basket will be provided by the instructor.  Please bring a towel for wrapping unused reed to keep it moist.  Bring the following, if you have them: a small spray bottle with water, an awl or packer tool, clips.  Instructor will have only a few to share.
