Polymer Clay Conversation Hearts

Students will make their own conversation heart charms of out of polymer clay, choosing their own colors and from a selection of sayings. While waiting for the charms to bake, students will assemble a charm bracelet from chain and findings. After, the charms will be prepared and attached to the bracelet.

Class time: 3.5 hours

Tools & Materials:  

Polymer clay (instructor will show how to blend custom pastel colors)

Polymer clay tools: pasta machine and/or clay roller, work surface, clay blade, small heart-shaped clay cutters. 

Chain and findings for bracelet.

Jewelry tools: round-nose pliers, flat-nosed pliers, wire cutters.

Instructor will provide all clay, chain, and findings. Instructor will have a limited number of pasta machines and work mats to borrow. Students can share instructor’s heart cutters and jewelry tools, but if they have their own to bring, that will be helpful.
