About The Event

What is Ice Dyeing?

Ice dyeing is a unique and captivating fabric dyeing technique that utilizes the transformative properties of ice to create stunning and intricate patterns on textiles. This method involves placing dry fabric, typically made of natural fibers such as cotton or silk, in a position where it can interact with ice and dye powders. The process begins by laying the fabric in a way that allows for maximum exposure to the ice, which is then piled on top of the fabric. The next step involves sprinkling the dye powders over the ice, allowing the colors to intermingle and diffuse as the ice melts.

The beauty of ice dyeing lies in its unpredictability and the organic nature of the patterns it produces. As the ice melts, it creates a gradient effect, allowing the dye to seep into the fabric in a way that is often unexpected and beautifully…
