What Lifts You Up? — Hot Air Balloon Sculptures

In this uplifting four-session workshop, young artists ages 8–12 will take their imagination to new heights! Inspired by the mini hot air balloon activity “What Lifts You Up?” from the May 2nd First Fridays event, students will build on their maquettes to create a fully realized mixed media sculpture using tissue paper papier-mâché for the balloon and a handwoven basket . Along the way, we’ll explore personal symbolism, design techniques, and creative self-expression. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to reflect on what brings them joy, and to turn those reflections into a vibrant hanging sculpture that’s both beautiful and meaningful.
